Volunteer – United Way Day of Caring

Join AREA YP for United Way’s Day of Caring and help give back to our community! We’ll have two volunteer teams of 10 supporting local organizations. One team will work outdoors at Reiman Gardens, assisting with gardening projects such as weeding, mulching, and planting. The second team will support Camp Fire at Camp Canwita in Ames, helping organize and inventory supplies and equipment as part of an indoor volunteer project.

Far more than just a volunteer event, this day is a true celebration of community compassion and collective action. When you join Day of Caring, you are doing more than giving your time—you are helping forge the meaningful connections and social momentum needed to drive United Way towards their 2030 Community Impact goals!

Schedule:

• Campaign Kickoff Breakfast, 8-9 am at Cornbred (Optional)
  • We begin the day with a burst of energy and community spirit at Cornbred. Join neighbors, colleagues, and changemakers as we gather to fuel up and celebrate the launch of our campaign before heading out for a powerful day of service.
• Serving Nonprofits, 9 am – 12 pm at respective volunteering sites – AREA YP is volunteering at Reiman Gardens & Camp Fire at Camp Canwita
  • Following breakfast, hundreds of volunteers will fan out across Story County to tackle hands-on projects that revitalize local nonprofits and enhance our shared community spaces. Whether you are painting, landscaping, or assembling essential resources, your contribution proves what is possible when we work together toward a common goal. In the form – please indicate if you would like to volunteer at Reiman Gardens or Camp Fire at Camp Canwita.
• Uniting Volunteers, 12 pm – 4:30 pm at the ISU Alumni Center (Optional)
  • We are elevating the volunteer experience this year with a brand-new afternoon program at the ISU Alumni Center. Join us for lunch followed by an afternoon of kit building.
• Inspiring Kids, 3:30 – 4:30 pm at the ISU Alumni Center (Optional)
  • For the first time, we are inviting families to join the fun! Bring the kids and show the next generation the power of giving back.
